Musing Mondays – Reviewer?

Do you review books? If so, for who?

If not, have you ever thought about doing so? Why, or why not?

Yes, I do review books. However, I only recently got started. I used to browse the web reading book blogs thinking about what I would say about a book I had just finished reading. And sometimes I would end up reading a book because of something written in a blog review. Once I realized that I was getting quite a bit out of reading others peoples thoughts about what they have been reading, I decided to give it a try myself. How cool would it be to have some sort of effect on peoples beliefs about a book, author, or genre. It happened to me, why not see if I can pay it forward.

I review books mostly for myself and the people out there who want to see what I have to say. My ego isn’t big, I know that there are people out there who won’t agree with my new found love of Nora Roberts and other romance novels, but it doesn’t mean that the bad outweighs the good. I have really enjoyed the time I’ve spent in the last (almost) two months that I’ve been blogging. Even though I don’t have as much time as I would like to to write reviews, I have enjoyed putting time and effort into my blog and building it up into something better.

In the time I have been involved in the book bloggosphere (did I get that right?) I have started to develop a love for romance novels, learned to give sci fi novels a chance, and even gotten someone to consider giving one of my favorite books of all time higher priority. I’d say that is pretty damn cool.

You mentioned one of my favorite things about blogging: having a hand in what people read. I love it when I hear from one of my readers that they tried a book I suggested! And like you said, it’s circular. I get a ton of recommendations just from reading other book blogs. Since I’ve been blogging I’ve never been short on books I want to read!

      I hear that!

The only thing that gets me is that since I’ve started reading blogs and blogging I’ve been spending a lot more money on books than I used to.
