Which fictional character (or group of characters) would you like to spend a day at the beach with? Why would he/she/they make good beach buddies?
This is a really good question, and one that I definitely had to put some thought into. Especially since the last beach trip I remember taking was to the cape, about six or seven years ago.
So, if I could spend a day at the beach with any fictional character I think I would have to choose Ruth Ramsey from Tom Perrotta’s The Abstinence Teacher.
Why would I choose her, well I really liked her character to begin with. Shes straight forward and not afraid to say what’s on her mind. She understands the meaning of difficulty in life and I could totally picture myself sitting with her at the beach drinking a cold beer or a glass of wine just talking about life. I also would look forward to having an intelligent conversation with her. Kicking the shit and getting caught up on the good and the bad, what more could you want? When I read the book I felt she was one of the characters I could really relate to, so that’s basically why I’d spend a day at the beach with her.
