Back to School Time

It’s back to school time, and I have no exception. While I actually started last Wednesday (the 25th), I’m just now doing a post about it because this is the first full week of classes. I’m going into my third year of college – which is crazy, I can’t believe I’m already halfway done – and it is going to be a busy semester.

I’m taking six classes this semester and they all seem pretty interesting. The only thing that’s getting to me, I have to do a presentation in I believe 4 or 5 out of the six and I hate doing presentations, with a fiery passion. Aside from that it should be a pretty good semester.

The first class I’ll mention is actually my last English class of my undergraduate career. I’m taking Compostion and Literature. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but basically I’ll be doing lots of reading of short stories, plays, some poetry, and some excerpts from novels, which I then get to write papers about. My favorite part of the class is actually the reading journal we have to keep because this professor is quite open to honest feelings and we do have a story by Steinbeck in the class. 😦 But at least I can tell him all about why I hate Steinbeck.

I’m also taking American Government and Politics. While I was a little iffy going into this one, after class number two it doesn’t seem half as bad as it had. With the exception of yet another presentation on the death penalty, it should be quite a bit of fun.

Domestic Violence is my only CJ class this semester, and while that is a bit of a bummer, I will still like this class. Domestic Violence is something I became interested in when I took Victimology and we will be talking about a lot of very important topics such as child and spousal abuse.

On the Psychology track I’m taking Experimental Methods in Psychology which will be a pretty awesome class. I get to do more research about my favorite topic, and though research proposal’s are tedious, I like the freedom that I get in the class. I’m also taking Abnormal Psych! I’ve been waiting to take this for a while now and it definitely doesn’t seem to be a let down.

Class number six is Introduction to Music. I’m actually taking this to fulfill my art requirement, and while I thought this would be a breeze, I was really wrong. There’s actually six full exams, so it’s going to be a lot more hardcore than I had anticipated.

With that out there, for those of you going back to school are you excited? Are you even ready to be back in the classroom? For anyone who’s done with school, do you miss it?
