So I saw this post over at English Major’s Junk Food about National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo). I don’t know what the hell I’m thinking, well really I’m not thinking. Either way, I went to the website, my interest had been peaked. Before I knew it I was signed up, and before I could change my mind and undo it all I decided to post about it here. This way its a commitment that I’ve made and that is out there for the world to see.
What is NaNoWriMo?
For the month of November, the 1st thru the 30th, both amateur and professional authors alike sit down to write a 50,000 word novel.
This is a pretty big project that I’m about to take on. I really hope to finish though. I’m going to dedicate myself to working a little everyday. I have no clue yet what I’m going to write about, but I think this is going to be a big part of the fun for me. I’ve always loved writing. Unfortunately I have yet to finish a full-length novel like I hope to someday. I constantly have ideas swimming around in my head, so this is my chance to accomplish something. To this point, the longest piece of writing I’ve accomplished is about 20,000 words and that piece is actually unfinished.
I’m thinking that NaNoWriMo will be good for me, and regardless of the crazy factor, I’m really looking forward to it. The little picture here (which I stole from Ash) is linked to the website. Come on over and join the insanity. If you’d like to be writing buddies my username is hmantra.
