This weeks Booking Through Thursday asks:
Even I read things other than books from time to time … like, Magazines! What magazines/journals do you read?
I have something of a list, but I’ll keep it short and sweet.
When I was in middle school I read a ton of those teeny-bopper magazines, the ones that came with the big fold-out posters. Oh yeah, I was one of those kids.
As I got older though, my tastes advanced and I talked my mom into getting us a subscription to The Economist so I do read that regularly, or at least I try to. I also admit to having the CNN and New York Times applications downloaded on my cell phone so they’re at my fingertips. =]
Other than the stuff above I pretty much read a wide variety of academic journals. You know the ones in the university library basement that you have to sort through for those big research papers? Those are the ones I read. I figure if I can learn from them and enjoy them when my school is paying the subscriptions why not, you know? I could list all of the journals I read, but we would be here all day so basically I read journals on psychology, human sexuality, anthropology, gender studies, criminology, criminal justice and law, substance abuse, health science, philosophy, and some history and archaeology journals.
So yeah, thats pretty much what I read outside of books. How about you?
The only regular magazine I read is SFX – which deals with SF (mainly) and Fantasy. I find it very useful for book reviews and (mostly) trust their judgement on both books and movies.
