This weeks Booking Through Thursday asks:
What’s the largest, thickest, heaviest book you ever read? Was it because you had to? For pleasure? For school?
I like the word hefty for this question, so if I include everything I’ve read, both for pleasure and school, the heftiest book I’ve got under my belt is my Biology textbook for General & Human Bio II. That was a fun one to carry around on test day so I could study between classes.
For the heck of it though, I’ve read some pretty hefty books for pleasure as well. The last Harry Potter books are sizeable, even the last Twilight installment has a hefty factor. I also have the Illustrated Guide to World Mythology. That’s something I’ve read through for fun, after all I’ve got a thing for mythology, and its certainly got some weight to it. I also have a copy of an encyclopedia of American crime. It weighs a few pounds. Oh! And my copy of Edgar Allan Poe’s complete works. I’ve got a fancy schmancy hardcover copy. Basically, when my books decide to get bent out of shape they end up underneath the three previously mentioned books until they’re ready to straighten out. =]
Whats the heftiest read you’ve got under your belt?
You know, I mentioned The Witching Hour by Anne Rice in my post, but your answer made me think about some stuff. I have some books I use to bent my ill-shaped books back in shape too, like the Children of the Earth series by Jean M. Auel, 2666, Doctor Zjivago, The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo and something about a medieval cathedral – can’t really recall the title. Heh, when you think about it like that, I have a pretty impressive collection of large books.
I did not consider Harry Potter books as Heavy Reading!
Here is my BTT: Heavy Books post!
You do have quite the load there.
Ha … I listed a Biology book as one of my heavy books too 🙂
I love Poe’s work. Here is my answer to this week’s Booking Through Thursday.

Some of the Harry Potter books are heavy in pages!
