This week MizB want’s to know:
What’s at the top of your must-buy list, right now? (or, if you don’t wait — if you’re more impulsive — what books have you recently purchased?)
In the name of saving money, I’ve recently put myself on a book buying limitation. Holding myself to spending only a certain amount of money each month on books is hard work, I’m serious. That being said, I actually just made one of my allotted trips to the bookstore yesterday and got six new books!
Non-fiction:
My Secret Garden by Nancy Friday
What Do Women Want? Essays by Erica Jong by Erica Jong
Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach
Fiction:
Into the Fire (Troubleshooters #13) by Suzanne Brockmann
Gil’s All Fright Diner by A. Lee Martinez
Equations of Life (Samuil Petrovitch #1) by Simon Morden
I am very impulsive when it comes to buying books, so nearly every book is a must have as far as I’m concerned. Since I don’t have any sort of importance/rank worked out and I have pages and pages of books I want to get, I’ll share random books from my list.
Non-Fiction:
Seven Mysteries of Life by Guy Murchie
Hating God by Bernard Schweizer
America’s War on Sex by Marty Klein
I Am Not Myself These Days by Josh Kilmer-Purcell
The Story Soldiers Wouldn’t Tell by Thomas P. Lowry
Guns, Germs, & Steel: The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond
Fiction:
Heartless by Gail Carriger (I have a countdown going for this one! Can’t wait!)
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss
Sin Undone by Larissa Ione (Everytime I go to the bookstore I look for this and they NEVER have it!)
The Martian Ambassador by Alan Baker (Which can’t be bought new in the States, go figure)
Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart
Immortal Warrior by Lisa Hendrix
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by A.N. Roquelaure
The Yiddish Policemen’s Union by Michael Chabon
Boneshaker by Cherie Preist
What’s on your must have list?
I think that my ‘must have’ list is basically my Amazon Wish list which is just under 300 items ATM. At my present reading rate that’s 5 years worth of reading material….. [grin] Maybe I just use it as a trickle-charge for my book addiction…?
honestly, I have so many books in my TBR pile that I don’t need to look for more..and can’t really justify it. Also, recently, I have tried to take advantage of the free library for books I read about, rather than buy them.
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty is a good series! Have read in so long… Enjoy!
Wow, you’ve got some great books there! I heard about Bonk on NPR and it sounds really funny. Also, did you know the Coen Bros are planning to make The Yiddish Policeman’s Union into a movie??
I hadn’t heard that about The Yiddish Policeman’s Union, I guess I’ve really got to buckle down and read it now!
