Musing Mondays: Reading Families

This weeks Musing Monday

Do the members of your family read? Do you think it was passed down to you?((or, if you want you can answer this: Who do you think influenced you as a reader?))

Most everyone in my immediate family reads, some more than others. If I had to say who influenced me to become a reader though, that would definitely be my grandma on my mom’s side. I spent a lot of time with my mom’s parents growing up and the two of them have been readers since before I was born. My uncle is also a big reader who tends toward plays. My mom, she reads, but its mostly really boring books for work. She does throw in a fiction or a non-fiction-for-fun every now and then though. My dad kind of reads, as in it takes him about six months to read one book, but hey, he’s a busy guy so I’ll cut him some slack. Lastly is my stepmom, she likes to read though she has not been able to in quite some time. Between finishing her degree and raising two small children she just doesn’t have much time for reading, though she constantly tells me that one of these days she’ll pick up a book and read for pleasure again.

That was short and sweet.

Do you come from a reading family?

My mom and dad are readers when they can and hubby is a book lover as well just doesn’t read as fast. I got lucky we hang out at bookstores instead of bars. 😉

I love that you have memories of your Grandma and reading! I never knew either of my mine and have always wished I had.
