Booking Through Thursday: Influences

Booking Through Thursday

It’s Thursday which means… it’s BTT time!

Do other people influence what you choose to read? When a family member recommends something, or a friend says they hated a book you were planning to read … does it affect your reading choices?

In some ways I’m definitely influenced in what I read. There are tons of books that I’ve heard people rave about and just had to go read. Especially with friends of mine. We get together chat a bit, talk about what we’ve read recently, and almost always end up exchanging books.

At the same time, I’m less influenced to not read a book. If a friend reads something, but doesn’t like it I won’t automatically say no. I’m more likely to read a little bit about the book and decide if I want to give it a go.

Of course, neither of those things are absolutes because I can admit that I’ve long since lost count of the number of people I’ve heard talking about loving The Hunger Games series and I still haven’t drummed up the interest to pick them up.

How about you guys? Is your reading influenced at all?

Like you, I end up making my own decisions, but when other bloggers recommend books, I pay attention. Then I decide.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

I’m planning to read The Hunger Games in about a months time after it was recommended by some friends of mine – and trashed by another friend. It’s about time to make my own mind up!

I just can’t do it, lol! Every time I think about what I’ve heard and seen about Hunger Games all I can think of is Battle Royale. Until I can get over that it’s not happening. I do hope you enjoy it though and I’ll watch for your review!
